Day 31, TX, Rest day in Fredericksburg

This is a rest day due to weather but I'm hoping to feel better after the break. I went to a medical clinic this morning to find out what's causing my problems. It felt like a virus but different enough to make me suspicious. The doctor's guess is an allergic reaction to cedar pollen which is locally heavy now. I have never been allergic to anything to my knowledge, I hope he's right. I got a steroid shot and an asthma inhaler with instructions to take it easy. There's no easy way to pedal a loaded touring bike across the country. On the bright side the weather is improving tomorrow and the route becomes flatter as we approach east Texas and beyond. Despite doctor's recommendations, we may leave tomorrow as planned depending on how I feel and the results of the blood test.
